Injection Mold Making and Precision Engineering Techniques

Precision engineering is getting advancement day by day, weather it is a matter of manufacturing small instrument like injections to the making of large machinery. Even if we talk about making injection using precision engineering methodology, it is being done with a lot of interpolation of sizes and fits, but surely it would be inefficient.

Previously, a lot of fitting of mold components were being done by some tedious methods at industrial level but with the passage of time things become so precise with the new technology. A good example is the final grinding of the angles on slide and the corresponding lock block that moves the slide to its final location. This fitting process can be done in many ways, but one way is to begin fitting by checking the sizes with a scale and trying it. Repeating this process will be effective until you are able to close the mold completely. If you have some high spot blue, you can apply that to the mating surfaces to check for shut-offs.

There are actually times when this is a very practical method for fitting, but in general, using precision engineering services and tools are the best way to go. There are numerous ways to check the angles on the slide and lock block; you can use a sine plate and indicator, or use the optical comparator.

Other branches of the metalworking trades also use these tools and methods, but for different applications. A tool and die maker does very similar work, but the product is quite different. It is a bit like different types of medical doctors; they have similar training and use similar devices, but for completely different applications.
It is always advisable to invest in quality precision tools and getting services from an authenticated precision engineering company. Since, the goal is to produce quality work in as short a time as possible, it makes no sense to hold back on the inspection equipment.
